Not only do they have the power to influence, affect and control others but your words can also reflect this power back to you as the reaction to our words often returns to us in a multiplied form!
Whatever words we utter should be chosen with care for people will hear them and be influenced by them for good or ill. ~ Buddha
Your ability to communicate through speech is one of the most obvious and significant attributes you have as a human. Thousands of words pour out of your mouth each and every day as you freely express your thoughts, opinions, judgements and beliefs oblivious to the effect and influence these words have on yourself and the people around you.
You rarely stop to think about what you are saying and you often hurt people inadvertently with the words you speak or the way you say them. And once the words leave your mouth, it is impossible to take them back, no matter how unintentional they may have been, words can sometimes cut a lot deeper than a sword.
Everything you say produces an effect in the world.
Whatever you say to someone else will produce some kind of an effect in that person.
That brings me to my final point. All of us have to choose our words and our gestures which will have long lasting effects on the people close to us. Therefore choose your words with care, wisdom and love because not only do words create images but words influence thoughts and feelings about yourself and others and can change you as an individual and the world around you by constantly creating something either positive or negative.
So before you open that crevice in your face called a mouth to speak, ask yourself:
Is what I am about to say going to uplift the hearer?
Will it inspire, motivate, and create forward momentum for them?
Will it dissolve fear and create safety and trust?
Will I create a positive or negative ripple effect by speaking out these words?
Let‘s be determined to unleash the influence and power of words for positive change to inspire, encourage, and motivate.
